From Sh-k-boom Records ![]() sunday, december 9, 2001 // 12:01 p.m. ![]() Here's some information about the Actors's Fund of America: The September 11th Campaign of The Actors' Fund of America was created to allow The Actors' Fund to respond to the dire ramifications the attack on September 11th has had on the entertainment community. The Fund directly began walk-in support groups for all entertainment professionals looking for additional emotional support. The financial impact on the lives of entertainment professionals has been severe, due to the scarcity of sideline work as corporations, restaurants and retail stores cut expenses or close. Since September 11th, The Actors' Fund has seen an unprecedented increase in the demand for financial assistance from entertainment professionals seeking help with their rent, utilities and health insurance. Attendance at The Fund 's Actors' Work Program weekly orientation sessions is currently at overflow levels and Career Counselors have all extended their hours to accommodate the demand for services. For more information contact The Actors ' Fund at (212) 221-7300 or go to www.actorsfund.org. So get your tickets today! Space is limited! Dear Friends and Sh-K-Boom Family, I hope this note finds all of you as well as can be expected as we cope with this terrible tragedy. I wanted to let you know about something that we have been planning for the past few months. October 1st is to be the night when the concert series I have been producing for the past year, The Sh-K-Boom Room, is to have it's inaugural concert at The Village Theatre. In light of the terrorist attacks we all have been struggling with the fact of postponing or going on with the show. We have decided, with broader intent and a deepening determination, we will go on with the concert. The event will benefit Broadway Cares and the current relief effort in the wake of September 11th’s terrorist attack. Those currently slated to perform are: Sh-K-Boom recording artists Adam Pascal (Rent, AIDA), Sherie Rene Scott (AIDA, Rent, and the upcoming feature film Marci X) and Alice Ripley (The Rocky Horror Show, Side Show); as well as: Duncan Sheik (Atlantic Recording Artist and composer of the upcoming new musical Spring Awakening); David Yazbek (Recording artist and composer of The Full Monty); Idina Menzel (Aida, MTC’s The Wild Party, Rent); Billy Porter (Smokey Joe’s Café, Grease); Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices; Laura Benanti (Tony nominee Swing, MTC’s Time and Again); Everett Bradley (Swing, Stomp); and Cathy Richardson (Recording artist and star of Love, Janis). Additional guests, including Brooke Shields, are scheduled to appear. The evening will be hosted by Mario Cantone. The address of The Village Theater is 158 Bleecker Street and the performance begins at 8:00 pm on Monday October 1st 2001. Tickets for The Sh-K-Boom Room at The Village Theater are currently on sale. They can be purchased through Ticketmaster by phone at 212-307-4100 or online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by visiting the Village Theater Box Office at 158 Bleecker Street between the hours of noon and 6 pm daily.
